Deconstruction begins in Bedroom Number.  Picture taken after closet removed.
Same day, looking toward the hallway.  Lots of lumber to haul down the stairs.
There are several layers of wallpaper here too, although the picture doesn't show it.
Removed all the cardboard tiles from the ceiling.  This room did not have a dropped ceiling.
Here is Karol pulling all the staples out of the firring strips.  This way we can use them again to support the dry wall.
Karol is one of the family to whom we owe profit sharing!
Believe it or not, Mike and Karol tried to drywall without the lifter.  After she offered to BUY us one (or to kill him), Mike rented the lifter.
Karol knows what she is doing.
That is a really tall ceiling.  OK, only eleven feet (depending on where you measure from!)  Everything is a bit crooked.
I think Karol was operating the cordless drill at this point.  Picture her knees shaking, and the ladder wobbling...  Mike was just doing exercises.
Ah.  Jonathan shows up.  What's happenin', dude?
"What do you mean we cut it backwards?"
"It can't be backwards; I measured it."
Jonathan on the ladder, Hallie taping the joints.
Mike has built a tray ceiling in here.  How did that happen so fast?
Cleaned the room again.  I don't know why there are no pictures, but spent two days ripping up linoleum tiles from this floor, and the sub-floor under it.  We found really old tongue & groove planking with layers and layers of paint, thousands of nail holes, holes cut out here and there.
Bob has expertly mudded the room for us.
A layer of primer.
Still primer
Painted the ceiling a bone color.
Another view of the ceiling.
Hope we don't regret this.  The color is Merlot.
Dark paint like this is difficult to work with.  Texture of snot.  Sorry.
I think this was the 3rd coat.....It's looking good!
The molding will be white through out the house, so this view will change.  All the ceilings in the bed rooms will be the same color.
The floors in the bedrooms are just planking, but we removed all the MANY layers of paint, subfloor, nails, linoleum and carpet, and then sanded the heck out of it.
We rented this sander and it vibrated several pounds off me!
Ready for the polyurethane coating.
